Industrial Wastewater Treatment System
Engineering for sustainable water purification and environmental technology.
R-Tech Design was commissioned by HB Drilling for the development of an innovative industrial wastewater treatment plant. The goal of this project was to design a reliable and efficient installation that optimizes the wastewater process, increases operational reliability, and contributes to more sustainable water management.
From the initial concept phase, R-Tech Design worked closely with the client to translate the functional requirements, process parameters, and operational objectives into a technically feasible design.
Our contribution
Within this project, R-Tech Design provided the full engineering, including:
✔ Basic Engineering
✔ Process Engineering
✔ Detail Engineering
✔ Mechanical design
✔ 3D CAD modeling
✔ Design of an innovative sludge scraper (drag arm)
✔ Production drawings
✔ Construction preparation
✔ Digital validation with Augmented Reality
From concept to detailed engineering
The project started with the development of the Basic Engineering, in which the complete process plant was built based on the available process information and the customer's functional specifications.
During this phase, the process layout, the position of the measurement and control instrumentation, the water inlet and outlet points, and the main mechanical components were determined, among other things.
After approval of the concept, the project was further developed into a complete Detail Engineering Package, including all necessary production and fabrication drawings.
Innovative mechanical design
An important part of this project was the development of a specially designed sludge scraper (drag arm).
This mechanical structure was designed to transport floating debris in a controlled manner to the outside of the basin, where a first mechanical filtration step takes place.
This increases the efficiency of the entire water purification process and significantly reduces the load on the subsequent filtration and treatment steps.
Particular attention was paid to the design:
- optimal flow characteristics;
- ease of maintenance;
- wear resistance;
- operational reliability under continuous load;
- simple assembly and future inspection.
Virtual validation with Augmented Reality
Even before production, the entire design was digitally validated using Augmented Reality (AR).
Via a secure 4G live connection, the client was able to view the entire installation remotely as if it had already been built. This allowed design details, accessibility, maintenance zones, and constructibility to be evaluated jointly.
Thanks to this digital validation phase, optimizations were implemented during engineering, minimizing changes during production and assembly.
From engineering to production
After final approval, R-Tech Design handled the complete production preparation.
All production and fabrication drawings were finalized and transferred to the workshop, so that the construction could be executed efficiently and in accordance with the engineering documentation.
This integrated approach shortened the project lead time and ensured a controlled transition from engineering to production.
Result
The end result was an innovative industrial water treatment plant in which process engineering, mechanical design, and digital validation come together.
Through the combination of engineering, 3D modeling, and Augmented Reality, R-Tech Design delivered an installation that is not only technically reliable but also contributes to more efficient water management and more sustainable industrial production.
This project underscores our expertise in process plants, environmental technology, and sustainable industrial engineering, with innovation, reliability, and feasibility at the forefront.
